Pekingese dogs were bred for centuries to be the cherished companions of the imperial family of China. Today they’re still cherished family companions and show dogs who greet everyone they meet with dignity and grace. The Pekingese, a compact toy companion of regal bearing and a distinctive rolling gait, is one of several breeds created for the ruling classes of ancient China. These are sophisticated dogs of undying loyalty and many subtle delights.
